I believe strongly the Power of Radio. It’s a theme that comes up frequently in my lectures, classroom presentations, workshops, seminars and writing. Radio moves us. It wakes us, informs, entertains, influences, calms and re-assures us. Radio exposes us to new ideas…new music…new voices. Long into the age of converging platforms, Radio is more important than ever.
I think of the constant flow of news, information, music, video and images coming at us in terms of a coaxial cable: a hard conducting central core that is stable, surrounded by an interwoven mesh.
The stable core is Radio.
Everything else revolves around it. Radio drives it forward. If you can create great radio, you can adapt your skills and learn to create any kind of content.
These pages offer examples of works from my history in Radio, and illustrations of my own adaptations of Radio skills. Some are intended to help students develop their own Radio skills. New examples are added as new projects progress. Enjoy! Listen!
